Vacancy Junior CAD Designer

Our field of work is exclusively international and focusses on coastal protection, flood protection, ports, waterways and land reclamation. As a Junior CAD Designer, you will play an important role in turning ideas into clear, accurate and implementable designs.
Where will you be working?
You will join a compact and highly specialised engineering team working on technically challenging international projects. You will be working from our head office in Amersfoort. Occasional travel to international project locations may be required. CDR International also has a subsidiary office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and works with clients and partners across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
What will you be doing?
As the Junior CAD-Designer you will contribute to all stages of a project, from inception to detailed design. This includes, development of the layout and design of port structures, coastal protection works, drainage infrastructure, flood-protection works and land reclamations. Recent projects we worked on include the rehabilitation of a breakwater in Ghana, urban flood resilience in Liberia, coastal protection in São Tomé and Príncipe, flood protection design in Bhutan and design & supervision of the Sandbar Breakwater in Nigeria.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models for coastal, port, reclamation and flood-protection projects;
- Process bathymetric and topographic survey data and create terrain and seabed models;
- Translate engineering concepts, calculations and GIS data into technical designs;
- Prepare layouts, profiles, cross-sections, construction details and quantity information;
- Incorporate internal and client feedback into drawings and designs;
- Support the preparation of reports, proposals and project deliverables;
- Contribute to CDR’s design standards, templates and working methods;
- Gradually develop the ability to prepare and coordinate designs independently.
This role will be full-time position of 40 hours work per week. You will receive direct guidance from senior engineers, while being given the opportunity to initiate and develop your own expertise in CAD, Civil 3D and hydraulic engineering
What do you bring?
- Completed MBO-4 / HBO / Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Infrastructure of Hydraulic Engineering;
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and/or 3D;
- Good command of English, as CDR works exclusively on international projects;
- Ability to independently prepare accurate technical drawings;
- Good understanding of civil engineering design, coordinates, levels and profiles;
- Having strong spatial and technical insights;
- Accurate, practical, enthusiastic and willing to learn;
- Interested in hydraulic, coastal, maritime and river engineering
- Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary and intercultural team.
